WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE APPLE SEPTEMBER WWDC EVENT!

Posted by Tehillah Mwakalombe on 9th Aug 2023

In a year, Apple usually has three to four events. There's a spring event around March, the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, a September event that's focused on iPhone and Apple Watch, and sometimes an October event if there is a iPad or Mac large update.

In this blog, since we are now in august we’ll take a look at the possible announcements that we should expect this September. We're expecting at least one more event, where new iPhones and Apple Watch models will be released. The launches information in this guide is based on rumors and estimates, and actual launch could vary.

Apple in January 2023 introduced new 14 inch and 16 inch MacBook Pro models that are equipped with updated M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. Apple also introduced new M2 and M2 Pro Max mini mac and a new larger-sized HomePod, with all of these announcements done through a press release.

At WWDC, Apple introduced several new products, including the Vision Pro headset that’s coming in 2024, with the 15 inch MacBook Air and a new version of the Max studio with the M2 ultra chip and a new MacBook that uses the same chip. Apple also introduced software updates for all of its platforms!

September Event

iPhone 15 and 15 Pro or “Ultra”

The iPhone 15 and 15 Pro models are expected in September, which is Apple's typical iPhone release months. The iPhone 15 models will be the first with USB-C instead of Lightning, and there could be small design changes. We are expecting a 6.1-inch iPhone 15, a 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Plus, a 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro, and a 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Pro Max, though the "Pro Max" could get a new "Ultra" name this year.

The Pro models are expected to include a faster A17 chip built on a 3-nanometer node, and the biggest iPhone could have a periscope lens technology for 6x optical zoom.

Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra

Along with the iPhone, Apple always refreshes the Apple Watch, and we are expecting the Apple Watch Series 9 in September. There's no updates as of what will be included with the Apple Watch Series 9 update yet. But Apple is also expected to update the Apple Watch Ultra this fall.

There are several other products that Apple is working on, with launch dates expected in early 2024. These items include an iPad mini 7, a new 11 and 12.9 inch IPad Pro and several other devices so stay tuned for updates and concepts on those devices!
