Google Pixel 8 & 8 Pro: everything you need to know

The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are set to debut on October 4th. Google makes some of the best android phones on the market right now and we expect nothing but the best as usual for the upcoming launch of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.

The Google event scheduled for October 4th. With some design changes and an all-new processor, there are plenty of reasons to be excited about the Pixel 8. From some massive changes to smaller tweaks, here's everything we know about the Pixel 8 so far!

Both phones will see a decent design change for their respective predecessors, with curvier edges, a matte finish on the Pro, and flat screens. Google's Tensor G3 chipset will power both devices. We're expecting improvements to Google's two best areas of expertise: the camera and software. The camera bar is slightly redesigned. The lenses, particularly on the Pixel 8 Pro, are now grouped much closer together.

Both phones have a couple of size changes. The Pixel 8 is smaller than its predecessor, coming in at 150.5 x 70.8 x 8.9mm, or 12mm in thickness with the camera array included. The Pixel 8 Pro is now using a flat display, ditching the curved edges from previous generations. For the colors, the standard Pixel 8 will come in Obsidian, Hazel, and Rose, while the Pixel 8 Pro will include options for Obsidian, Porcelian, and Bay.

As for the specs, we know Google Tensor G3 is currently in testing. Google's third-gen custom chipset is rumored to be based on the unannounced Samsung Exynos 2300 processor. As for storage options, the leaked specs sheets show 128GB or 256GB of storage on the Pixel 8. The larger model offers both of those sizes as well, along with upgrades to 512GB or 1TB options.

The flagship Pixel 8 Pro looks all but certain to come with a built-in thermometer that was shown off in a leaked video in mid-May. The feature is a contactless thermometer that monitors your skin's temperature to help you determine if you're unwell. It's not a brand-new feature for smartphones but this is the first time we've seen this feature on a Pixel device. This appears to be exclusive to the Pixel 8 Pro and won't be seen on the cheaper model.

The most noticeable change is the new camera bar. Unlike with previous models, the camera lenses here are far more spread out across the device, giving each sensor some extra space and, hopefully helping to stop the shattering issue we saw on last year's phone.

In conclusion, so far the google pixel 8 and 8 pro look extremely promising and overall like decent devices and they both have several upgrades and improvements to the previous line which make them worth the consideration!
